What is the Small Agency Technology Pool?
The Department of Information Services' Small Agency Client Services (DIS SACS) received a $500,000 allocation for the 2007-09 Biennium. The technology pool funds continue to address the information technology (IT) and facility requirements for small agencies.

What are the priorities for the small agency technology pool?
The technology pool uses an enterprise approach that reduces the cost of internal operations. The Small Agency Information Technology Pool will accomplish the following strategies:
  1. Improve information technology or security
  2. Acquire critical IT infrastructure equipment
  3. Co-locate and share IT resources with larger agencies or multiple small agencies
  4. Acquire DIS centralized e-mail, server hosting, web hosting, etc.
The technology pool focuses on the following:
  • Human Resource Management System (HRMS) Readiness
  • Shared technology and infrastructure
  • Shared maintenance and operations
  • IT portfolio management
  • Shared facilities including site co-location
What are some examples of small agency technology pool projects?
  1. Improve information technology and security
  • IT security software, hardware, audits
  1. Acquire critical IT infrastructure equipment
  • Printers or computers for HRMS readiness
  • State Government Network connectivity, routers, servers, cabling
  • Personal computers, lap tops, projectors
  • Software
  1. Co-locate and share IT resources with larger agencies or multiple small agencies
  • Business Resumption Planning
  • Web site development, email setup
  • IT Portfolio, quality assurance, IT project management
  1. Acquire DIS centralized e-mail, server hosting, web hosting, etc.
  • Joining the enterprise active directory service
  • Moving your Web site to DIS hosted services
What are some examples of co-location?
  1. A small agency moves to a larger agency's building. The larger agency hosts many IT and other support services for the small agency.
  2. Several small agencies move into a space together and share IT and real estate services together.
