June - July 2009

The first step of the project involved removing the large trees pictured here, and milling the wood. The wood was re-used to build planter boxes for oak trees that were going to be removed from the site during construction, but replanted on the site once the building was finished. The oak trees were relocated to a portion of the site where they will remain watered until they are ready for re-planting.

Looking from 14th Ave. SE toward the South-Southeast   An oak tree with a planter box built around it.   The planter-boxed oak tree awaits relocation.   The boxed trees were moved to a shadier spot and are watered until they will be replanted.   The landscape of the site would soon be changing.

August - September 2009

August marked the start of the earth work on the project site. The developer moved moblie office buildings on the site, and the JLARC Building needed to be removed. Double dumptrucks began removing dirt from the site with the help of excavators. A wheel-washing station was set up to keep the dirt on the site, and off of the public roadways.

Moblie offices were set up by the developer.   The JLARC Building would need to come down.   The demolition team kept the dust down by spraying the building and debris with water.   The demolition crew kept everything contained to a very small area.   Halfway through the demolition process.   The demolition is done.
Excavators fill the double dumptrucks with dirt to be removed.   The dumptrucks have their wheels washed before leaving the site to keep mud off of the roadway.   The development crew works quickly, especially during good weather periods.   Looking from 14th Ave. SE toward the South   The progress continues . . .   Excavators dump material into dumptrucks for removal
